Mishap at Unity Camp.

The recent tragic death of three school children at the Unity Camp in Gopeng should set as an eye-opener to all parties concerned.Extra precautionary measures must be taken at future unity or 1Malaysia camps so as to avoid a repeat of the tragedy.It is such a pity that young lives are lost due to the carelessness or casual attitude of those in charge of such camps.My sincere condolence to the parents of the three deceased.The MOE should offer their assistance to those parents so that they could put this sad episode behind them and get on with their lives.

Abuse of maids.

There is a great demand for foreign maids in our country.This is a natural development as our country progresses and more and more families are moving towards double-income households.But as more maids are employed,we also hear and read in the news about maids being abused and tortured by their employers.This phenomena is disturbing and unhealthy especially now that our mutual relationships with Indonesia is not as solid as before.The recent death of an Indonesian maid who was tortured by her employer is bound to worsen the strained relationship between peoples of the two countries.So Malaysian employers please show more restrain and patience when dealing with local or foreign maids.They are here to help us with our chores and not to be abused.

A scary experience.

It was reported that a plane overshot the airport it was supposed to land by 240km in the US because the two pilots in the cockpit were too engrossed with their laptop rather than the cockpit displays.Well it is really very frightening and scary to read such news.These 2 pilots were too busy with whatever they were doing until they were ticked off by one of the flight attendants.Imagine if you were on the plane and how will you feel about the whole episode.The pilots must be professional in their jobs as many lives depend on them.

Single Stream Schools.

It was reported in Parliment that the govt should set up single stream Secondary schools to instil greater unity and 1Malaysia spirit among school children.I fully supported the idea that all secondary students should study under one roof.As MP Tony Pua mentioned all secondary schools under the MOE like residential schools,Matriculation colleges and others must be included and not confined to only normal sec schools.Then only we will achieve greater unity among the races.Will it materialise?

A blackout.

There was a blackout in my residential area last night and it was only restored at about one something in the early morning.Hope it will not happen too frequently as it will only bring inconveniences to many people especially students.

Brisk Walking.

Every Sunday morning my family and I will be in Tanjung for our morning jog/brisk walking.There are quite a number of them,whether young or old walking and running casually.Normally the walking will take about 40 minutes and then we will take our breakfast.This way I hope will bring the family closer.A healthy family is a happy family.

A shocking news.

Just read from The Star that Ong Ka Chuan saved a teenager from repeated rapes at the rest area along the NS highway.The culprits were caught and I hope that our police will put them behind bars.These are dangerous criminals on the loose.To all those gals on the highways,please take extra precautions.Don't be easily conned by anybody.

Dismay Budget 2010.

Our PM has outlined next year deficit budget.But civil servants are quite upset that those in groups 41-54 will get only RM500 in December.I feel that the govt should at least give a half-month bonus to all civil servants to lighten their burden.RM500 is too little nowadays.CUEPACS asked for 2 months bonus but we only get RM500.This is grossly unjust.Where is the People First slogan?

Auditor-General Report.

According to an AG report,Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Mara Balik Pulau in Penang paid a whooping RM42,320 for a laptop.But a check with local companies showed that the market price for the latest model is between RM5350 to RM6500.Worse still the computers that were supplied are no longer in the market.The AG has found the discrepancies and lets see how the MACC will react.

CHINA as a superpower.

According to Goldman Sachs predictions,China will overtake USA as the world's largest economy in 2027 and by 2050,China's economy will be twice that of the USA even then the average Chinese will only have half the income of an American.Because China has 1.3 billion people it can be a big economy even when its people are relatively poor.

Reconciliation in MCA.

OTK and CSL have finally agreed to work together through the intervention of BN leadership.It looks like there won't be another EGM being convened to settle the score once and for all.Will the handshake last this time around?Only time will tell.As Dr.Chua mentioned,politics is the art of making the possible impposible and making the impossible possible.

The demise of PPSMI

The MOE has decided to abandon PPSMI earlier,may be in 2011.Teachers have to revert to BM in the teaching of Maths and Science.Personally I feel that the MOE should at least maintain English as the medium of instruction in the two subjects in sec schools.This way the students will benefit when they further their studies later,be it in colleges or universities.One of the main factor why PPSMI failed was because the teachers themselves fail to improve and take seriously in learning English.Guess they are only serious in the critical allowance.It is a big mistake to scrap PPSMI for sure.

MCA 2nd EGM.

OTK has terminated its legal bureau chief today.He is now on the road to clean up the party and put in place his supporters.This act will hopefully strenghten his position and power base in the party.Now that he is down the CC members will abandon him but I say OTK will arise and eventually he will be elected again as the President of a rejuvenated and rebranded party and come the 13th G.E MCA will win back the lost seats because he speaks without fear or favour.OTK teruskan perjuangan kamu sehingga titik darah yang akhir.

Playing badminton.

Every wed night from 10 pm I will be playing badminton with a few members.I need to exercise and sweat coz this is one way to destress.Heard that playing games can delay the onset of many health problems.Actually badminton is a very strenuous activity.Usually I will be back after mid-nite and sleep at 2.am.This is crazy as tmr I have to wake up at 6 am.I guess I have to change the time.

Health is WEALTH.

Just 2 weeks ago,my childhood friend passed away.He fell down in a provision shop and just went like that.I was really shocked and surprised at his dealth.Heard he got hypertension and he stopped taking H.B.pills.He was always jovial and I have lost a buddy.May his soul rest in peace.Goodbye my friend.

Moral Education.

Moral education paper is one of the core subjects in SPM level.It is quite a gigantic task imparting moral values to a bunch of uninterested and lazy students especially the few last classes.They just spend their times in school talking,sleeping and EATING!They also have to do the 'Kerja Amal' and submit to the teachers for marking.Just hope all of them will finish their projects before the dateline.

Budget Day.

This Friday 23.10.09 is Budget Day.As usual all civil servants will be looking forward to the good news ,that is BONUS.Hope our govt will grant us at least 1 month bonus.I think the economy has improved over the last few months and the people confidence in our PM managing the country.So our People first PM don't disappoint us.

China Tours

Plan to go to Shanghai this coming school holidays with my family.My first trip to China was in June 2009.We went to Beijing,Chengde and Tianjin.My eldest daughter will not be able to join us as her semester break does not coincide with our departure.But I do hope she will be able to go to Haikou and Sanya,Hainan next June.I have decided on the trip overseas as I am getting older by the day.

MCA in chaos.

MCA EGM has ended without any conclusive results.The central committee tried to topple OTK and elect their new President.Definitely OTK will be furious and sad becoz most of the CC members were his supporters.I guess these days you can't trust anybody except MONEY.I hope OTK will soldier on and be reelected as MCA President again simply because he speaks without fear and favour.

Happy Deepavali

Yesterday I went to my Indian colleage's open house.Saw her father and mother in law who were my old neighbours.They are still very healthy.The food was delicious.A very big thank you Pn Amuthah.

Rakan Muda Road Safety

Tommorrow 11 schools partcipants will take part in 'Road Safety' undertaken by Rakan Muda in my school.Wonder where they are going to hold the activities.My school will host the activities.Being the sch Road Safety club teacher adviser,I will be quite busy on that day.I hope all programmes will go smoothly without any problems.
